Gilding Polish – Phill's Crafty Place

Hello crafters!

Here is a card made by crafters at our regular workshops.

It uses Phills new DL Verse Stamps, Sue Wilson Octagon Dies and the lovely Chrysanthemum Die, with gorgeous Gilding Polish and Shimmer Shakers to add the colour.

Our main sample card uses colours Golden Olive and Silver Hessian, but all the colours are gorgeous!

The Full Card

Stage 1 – Cut out all the layers and die cut pieces needed for your card as below:

Base Card – x2 17cm x 17cm card blanks -front cut to 8 1/2 cm panel
Front Panels – x2 16.5cm x 8cm (use the off cut from above)
Embossed layers – x2 16cm x 7.5cm and x1 16cm x 4 cm for inside
Die Cuts
- Sue Wilson Lavish Accented Octagon
- Sue Wilson Double Stitched Octagon
- Sue Wilson Chrysanthemum

Stage 2 – Choose x1 or x2 Gilding Polish Colours for layers as you wish from the photos. This stage will take the most time, so be patient! These colours all match beautifully, so deciding on your colours will be tricky!

TIP – if the sponge is a little dry rinse under the tap and blot the excess. Use a blending mat to help the Gilding Polish go on more easily. The colours will overlap, but be careful with the darker colours to make sure there’s not too much.

Stage 3 – To apply Gilding Polish to the embossed layers ensure the sponge is quite dry, by taking off all the excess polish. Very lightly apply the polish over the embossed pieces, being careful not to apply too much pressure as this will make the polish go into the de-bossed parts.

Stage 4 – Choose co-ordinating Shimmer Shaker colours to add interest to the Chrysanthemum Petals. Leave to dry naturally for as long as you can, but if you get impatient dry carefully with the heat gun!

TIP – as this flower is quite delicate its best to wet the flowers first and then add the Shimmer Shakers

Stage 5 – Stamp your chosen sentiment from the DL Verse Collection, using Distress Oxides or Detail Embossing Powder This stamp set has matching verses and a smaller sentiment, which is perfect for the topper ans insert on this card.
