Quick Step by Step

Trim Cool Slate card to 17cm x 17cm, trim Cool Grey card to 16.5cm x 16.5cm and trim Cool Slate to 16cm x 16cm. Matt the first two trimmed cards together using PVA glue then glue on to the card blank.

Woodgrain Botanicals – Hibiscus by Alison Stroud

Craft Skill Level: Beginner

Time To Make: 30-45 mins

(approx.)

Card Blank is C5 size.

Cut a piece of Fabulous Fuchsia cardstock  2/8” smaller than the blank and Mandarin Burst 2/8” smaller than the Fuchsia, mat and layer these to the card blank using foam tape.

Cut a piece of Pure White cardstock 2/8” smaller than the mandarin burst card.

Using two pieces of removable tape mask off a panel in the centre of the card and using the two contrasting colours of Distress Oxides and smoothies randomly ink the two outside panels making sure you don’t colour right over the tape.

Once the ink is dry remove the tape.

Using two new pieces of tape carefully place a piece on each side of the white panel, with the tape being over the coloured panel. This will ensure that the stamped image will not mark the coloured sides.

Wipe the white area with an antistatic pad.

Ink up the stamp using embossing ink and stamp the bottom section of the card so the bottom of the stem is at the bottom edge. Re-ink the stamp and stamp the top section of the card to just meet the first stamped image. (You could add the  silver embossing powder to the first stamped image so you can see where to stamp the image again more easily).

REMEMBER to remove the tape before heat embossing.

Add silver embossing powder over the whole section and heat to set.

On a spare scrap of white card stamp and emboss the image twice more, and  fussy cut three flowers.

Using the oxides and a water brush, colour the middle of all the flowers with picked raspberry,( I then dabbed with a piece of kitchen roll to take a bit of the colour out). Then, using the same process colour the outer of the flowers with the carved pumpkin, and then the leaves with the bundled sage.

Using foam tape, add this layer to the card blank.

Attach the flowers to card, as in the photo, to give some dimension and to hide the join between the stamps.

Stamp the sentiments required using the embossing ink and coloured powders alternating colours, then cut out using the stitched torn dies. Attach to the left side of the card.

Complete by adding a large pearl in each corner.

Friday Live – 15th May

Here’s the card that Phill made during his Friday Live on 15th May.

Its made using the A6 Medley Stamps, Flower Dies, Compendium of Sentiments and A4 Essentials Premium Paper Packs. The card in the photo uses the Bluebell and Sage Papers and Coffee Bean Cardstock.

THE FULL CARD

Stage 1 – Cut out all the layers and die cuts needed as below:

  • Card Blank – 20 x 20cm
  • Layer 1 – Coffee Bean Card – 19x19cm
  • Layer 2 – Paper Layer – 18.5×18.5cm (Scuffed Edges)
  • Layer 3 – Paper Strip – 18cm x 6cm (Torn)
  • Oval Frame – Coffee Bean Card
  • Oval Shape – Pure White Card
  • Elegance and Enchanting Flower Dies – cut using the papers
  • Lush Leaves Die
  • Essential Tags Die – x2 (paper and card)

Stage 2 – Ink the edges of the Paper Layer using the Acorn Versafine Clair Ink Pad using a ‘patting action’. This helps it to be blend more subtly onto the paper and gives it a shabby finish. Then use the Sakura Real White Gel pens to draw a stitched border pattern around the layer. Using the Four in One Flower Border Stencil gently ink some flowers onto the paper layer. Use the Woodware Edge Crimper to shred the edges of the paper and shabby up the edges. Phill also went round the edge and tore the paper a little. Adhere to Card stock layer.

Stage 3 – Tear the edges of the Paper Strip. If you stay close you will get a larger white border. Use the Life Quotes Extras Textures to add a pattern onto the paper strip. Phill did second generation stamping.

Stage 4 – Assemble the layers onto the card blank, using foam tape where you wish. The Coffee Bean Frame is underneath the paper strip, so only the top and bottom half is visible with the white stitching border.

Stage 5 – Stamp up the A6 Medley Stamp onto the plain oval with the Versafine Clair.

TOP TIP – when a stamp is larger than the die cut shape, use a sheet of paper and a tiny, tiny blob of glue to keep it in place. (see video). Stamp the Medley Image again onto scrap paper as you will need some extras to cut out and decoupage.

Stage 6 – Use the Watercolour Brush Blending Pens to colour in the main oval image and the extras you wish to decoupage. Adhere the oval image to the card blank. Stamp the sentiment onto the small tag.

Stage 7 – Shape and assemble the flowers onto the card blank. Add the Lush Leaves as you go. Add pearls to the centre of the flowers and add glitter where you wish.

MDF Box Card

Here is our latest blog post

The original card was made by Suzanne (Design Team Member). It uses the A4 Premium Paper Packs, MDF Sentiments and Cosmic Holographic Glitters.  In our workshops we also used the new Flower Dies on our cards 🙂

There is a lot of cutting for this card as we have used two different coloured layers of paper each section, but you could certainly make it easier by just having one layer of paper each section! (Follow the cutting for Layer 1 only if you want to make it easier)

Stage 1 – Cut out all the layers needed as below:

  • Base Card – x2 pieces of white card – 28.5cm x 9.5 (Score each piece at 9.5cm and 19cm). Glue the middle sections together to make the box and let dry.
  • Lid – 16cm x 16cm white card (Score each side at 3cm all way round and snip at corners to glue sides together later – after you have stuck the layers on!)
  • Outer Box Sections
    • Sides Layer 1 – 9cm x 9cm (x4)
    • Sides Layer 2 – 8.5cm x 8.5cm (x4)
  • Lid Sections
    • Top Layer 1 – 9.5cm x 9.5cm (x1)
    • Top Layer 2 – 9cm x 9cm (x1)
    • Side Panels 1 – 9.5cm x 2.5 (x4)
    • Side Panels 2 – 9cm x 2cm (x4)
  • Inner Box Sections
    • Sides Layer 1 and Base Layer 1 -9cm x 9cm (x5)
    • Sides Layer 2 – 8.5cm x 8.5cm (x4)
    • Base Layer 2 – 8.5cm x 8.5cm (x1) use different paper than sides to contrast
  • Circle Dies – we have left ours white and stamped them
  • Flower Dies

Stage 2 – Glue all the layers to the box sections.

After you have attached the layers on the lids, fold the lid and glue together.

Stage 3 – Choose whether you want to Glitter your MDF Sentiment or Use Embossing Powder – both look fab!  The Holographic Glitter covers the MDF more fully than the Glitter Alchemy.  If you choose to Emboss, make sure you Double Emboss the words to fill the colour.

We have used our Brush Glue Applicator to apply the glitters.  You don’t need a lot of glue as it’s very strong!

The MDF Sentiments all come with extra shapes that you can embellish and add to your box card!

Stage 4 – Choose which Stamps to use on the plain white circles and use coordinating ink to match the papers.

Stage 5 – Ink and shape the flowers

Stage 6 – We have used Pinflair Glue to hold our MDF Sentiment in place.  This takes time to dry, so ideally leave this for at least 3 hours before adding the flowers around the base so it is set.  The flowers will disguise the Silicone glue, or you could sprinkle it with glitter!

Each MDF Sentiment will have at least anchor points at the base when a good blog of Pinflair can be added.

Pretty In Pink (and purple!) Sneaky Peek!

Hello Crafters

As my first year anniversary Weekend Wow shows draw closer, I’m sharing a sneaky peek every day this week with you of some of the samples that have been made with (some of) the new products launching on Friday.

We have been waiting for these, they have been a labour of love to get ‘perfect’, but they are so worth the wait! I love these stamps and dies and I just know I am going to use them so much!

Flowers on cards, my absolute favourite way of ‘decorating’ a card,.. which means my designs for the stamps and dies HAD to be beautiful, HAD to work with each other and on their own and simply HAD to be everything I want from a matching set..

My shows launch at 10am on Friday 28th over on Hochanda and I’m so excited, I can’t sleep!! See the side bar to the right to see all the show times for myself and Julia (who is launching Trudies brand new Under The Sea Colection and let me tell you this,.. they are amazing stamps!

Anyhoo, enough rattling..

This card features the beautiful Romantique Flower Stamps & Dies,.. such a pretty, succulent, flouncy flower that you will be able to shape and colour any way you want… Romantique seemed to suit it 🙂

These have been coloured in with my Watercolour Blending Brush Pens (Set 2) and the background has been created with the pens too!

Photo 19-02-2020, 11 03 25

Hope you like it 🙂

Until tomorrow…

Happy Crafting!
